4th of July Memory Chains

While thinking about the 4th of July I constructed a couple of memory chains.

Memory chain is my term for when a memory leads to one memory after another and you end up somewhere else. Or, it may just be my wandering mind šŸ™‚

Yesterday in my post Celebration Time I mentioned that you could see a picture of me marching in a parade wearing a Boy Scout uniform. You can see the picture in my post: Small Town 4th of July

Thinking of the picture started the memory chains.

Boy Scouts in uniform, Dallas, Craig, Scout Camp, Camping, Scouting MemoriesThe first chain has to do with Boy Scouts. Here is a picture of me with my friends Craig and Dallas all ready to go on a camping trip. You can see my gear stacked beside us.

In the background you can also see our old red, white and blue van. Seeing the picture of the van brings back some great memories. We bought the van from one of our family friends shortly after the Bi-Centennial.

Eagle Scout Court of Honor, Eagle Scout Ceremoni, Boy Scouts, Eagle AwardI then thought of my Eagle Scout Court of Honor. I remember that day when I received my Eagle Scout badge from my Scoutmaster. Of course other memories in the chain are coming back including the many activities we participated in through the years and my Eagle Scout project.

4th of July Parade, Bicycles, Wagon, Small town parade, Independence day paradeThe other memory chain was about wagons. I found another picture of a 4th of July parade. In that parade I pulled a wagon with our neighbor Darla as a passenger. We are surrounded by kids riding their bikes. I am thinking that a very similar scene will take place tomorrow in the same place.

Little Red Wagon, Birthday present, Old Truck, Memories, BowtieThe wagon made me think of this picture taken of me on my 2nd birthday. I am sitting in my Radio Jet red wagon. Yes, at one time I was really cute. Check out the bow-tie and suspenders šŸ™‚

The truck in the background also brings back memories. I have so many memories of my Dad’s old blue pickup truck.

More memory chains are forming and I will get this posted before I decide to write a novel tonight.

Did I get you started on a memory chain?

Steven
