The timing has finally been just right to be in Tokyo when the cherry trees are in bloom. I can now cross another item off of my bucket list. In the past I have always been a little to early or a little to late.
Here is the view from my hotel room this morning. You can see a few cherry trees in the foreground. In the background is the Shinjuku skyline. The cherry trees that you can see are at the end of long line that stretch along an embankment.
Here is a closer view of some of the blossoms. The trees are loaded with beautiful blossoms.
I walked down a path through the cherry trees to get to the subway station, and really enjoyed the walk. It probably took me twice as long to make it to the subway station as it should have š
Some of the cherry trees are very large and you can tell that they are very old. I really love the majestic look of the blossom loaded branches of the trees.
I had another chance for pictures on the way back to my hotel. It was very interesting to see them in a different light. However, the pictures do not even begin to give you the experience of walking through this beautiful area.
As we were walking back to the hotel we say many groups of people laying out tarps. Here a group has laid out their tarps and are having a nice feast while enjoying the cherry blossoms. I really like this picture as it shows all the shoes lined up along the edge of the tarp.
There are several other prime cherry blossom viewing points near my hotel or the exhibition center, so I hope to have some different views for you later in the week. I also have a few food posts to make. Both lunch and dinner today were very photogenic.
I also have a few nice sunset pictures that I want to share.
Stay tuned!
Steven
So beautiful, how lucky to be there at the right time. I’m impressed with their custom of removing shoes and sharing a nice lunch together. They obviously are trusting of others, their bags are just piled to the side. You wouldn’t dare do that here.
Thanks so much for sharing!!
