New Camera

In my Sunday post, Bees and Blossoms, I mentioned that I had ordered a new camera.

On the way home from work today I received an e-mail that my camera had arrived at the store and was ready for pick-up.

Of course, I had to make a stop on the way home to pick it up.

I wanted to get a camera that was similar to the Sony DSC-H20 that I have used for the last five years.New Camera - Sony DSC-RM100M2 - Cyber-Shot - Zeiss Lens

I had been unable to find one in the local stores, so had to go hunting on-line. I did see the model I wanted in the duty-free shopping area at the Sydney airport, so knew that it was available.

I had several things that I was looking for in a new camera. One was size. I like to have a camera that I can slip into my pocket when I am out sightseeing, but also one that takes a great picture.

As you can see in the picture above, the camera is just a bit smaller than my old one. The biggest dimension reduction is in the thickness of the camera and how much the lens sticks out when turned off. This will make it much easier to put in my pocket.

Another important thing I was looking for in a new camera was a Zeiss lens.

The Sony DSC-RX100M2 has a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 1,8-4.9/10,4-37,1 lens.

The T* coating reduces flare and increases light transmission and the wide aperture allows for excellent low light pictures.

The new camera has many features that I will have to explore. Some of them are really cool.

I will be able to transfer pictures to my computer, i-Phone or i-Pad using Wi-Fi.

The camera also has new modes to explore, a tilt-able LCD, dual memory card functionality and on-board battery charging.

I am sure that it will take me awhile to figure out all the new things that I can do with the camera.

Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to take a walk on Saturday and get some good nature shots. I need some practice taking pictures of blossoms before my next trip.

Steven
