This evening I will share some pictures that I took earlier today.
Spring is on the way here in the Central Valley of California. As I drove to church services this morning I could look out over the valley and see vast patches of white blossoms. The orchards looked like large patches of snow.
Unfortunately, it is a bit difficult to get good pictures at 70 miles an hour so you will not see pictures of what I saw this morning.
Instead, you will get a few pictures that I took this afternoon at my friends’ walnut orchard.
The orchard is in the development stage, but they also have some fruit trees on the property.
I have had peaches from this beautiful old tree, and they are very delicious.
You can see another picture of the barn that is in the background in my post: Barns
While taking pictures of the beautiful pink blossoms I noticed a few bees that were busy pollinating them. I then focused on getting some good bee pictures.
In this picture you can see pollen on the tail of the bee and also a large ball that it is holding below. The ball of pollen reminds me of my post Sydney Daisies.
Here is another view of a bee with a blossom. Unfortunately the bee is a little out of focus. I have been having difficulties with the auto-focus and zoom of my camera lately. I got frustrated enough today to finally make a decision on what my next camera will be. The new camera is ordered and on the way.
Here we have the honey bee trying to choose where to enter the blossom.
I am also thinking of another post I wrote about bees. Click on the following link to find out about bees and honey in Israel.
There is a lot that I like about the picture above.
The blossoms are crossed by the shadow line.
The bee is in the shadow but still visible.
I like the dusting of pollen on the back of the bee.
You can see a leaf bud that will bring color to the tree after the blossoms have faded.
I all of a sudden have a craving for honey. Time for a bedtime snack.
What is your favorite orchard product?
Steven

Great close-ups of the bee and the flowers.
