Art at the Airport

One of the neat things about traveling is getting to see different airports.

Wandering around an airport can be very interesting. I especially like the San Francisco Airport as it has a lot of art and displays.

Today I flew out of the International terminal, but from the concourse than I rarely fly from.

While waiting for my flight on Air Canada, I took some pictures of a great piece of art that was in the gate area.

Namoo house, Joyce Hsu, sculpture, art at SFO airport

The name of this sculpture is Namoo House. Namoo is a Korean word that means ‘Nature.’

The pieces of the sculpture are made from powder coated aluminum and stainless steel. They reminded me of giant erector set pieces.

The sculpture is by Bay Area artist Joyce Hsu and represents the runways and terminals of the airport.

I am now in Canada and am having a great time with friends. Especially my little two year old friend who has monopolizing my i-Pad playing Where’s my Water.

  1. I like to wander around and see the art too. Vancouver, BC has this massive carved panel and a waterfall. Boston’s Logan Airport has a huge clear box with items that make noise inside. Fun to watch. Ever been to either of these places?

I’ll have to look for that next time I’m in town. I was at the hospital today and there’s a lot of wonderful donated art all over. I thought about a blog too. Welcome to Canada! Bienvenue!
