Yesterday Flowers Foods filed a new investor presentation with the SEC. I looked through the presentation and found out a few new things about how they will integrate the Hostess Brands into their portfolio.
I know that everyone wants to know when Home Pride Bread will be returning to the shelves. I will get to that later in the post.
First, Flowers Foods will have three National brands and five main Regional brands. I decided to hunt through my pictures to see if I had something to illustrate them.
The National brands are:
Natures’s Own which will be the premium bread line.
Wonder Bread will be the National White bread line.
Tastykake will be the National snack cake line.
Now for the Regional brands. I don’t have images for all of them.
Home Pride Bread will be one of the regional brands. I wish I knew what regions it will be sold in, but they did not provide that information. I would imagine that they would re-introduce it in the regions where it sold the best. Before the demise of Hostess Brands, Home Pride Bread was the number four selling bread nationwide. It was only surpassed by Nature’s Own Honey Wheat, Thomas Original English Muffins and Nature’s Own 100% Whole Wheat.
This image shows two more of the regional brands. Bunny and Sunbeam are both sold in Missouri where my parents live and I am sure that it will remain a regional brand there.
The other two regional brands are Butternut and Merita. I don’t have pictures of them that I have taken myself, so you will just have to imagine. I know that Merita was a big brand in the South so it will probably be a regional brand there. Of the five regional brands, three of them are from the Hostess Brands acquisition.
Now for the news that you have been waiting for.
When will the breads be back on the shelf?
The investor presentation has one slide titled “Brands Reintroduction – early Fall 2013”
The slide shows a picture of a Wonder bread truck and the logos of Wonder, Merita, Home Pride and Butternut. The first day of fall is September 22 this year, so we can probably start looking for our breads sometime in October.
In the investor presentation they also announced two sponsorships for Wonder Bread: NASCAR and Children’s Miracle Network
Hopefully we only have a couple months to wait for our favorite breads to return.
Steven

You’ve faithfully following that bread through quite a process.
Hope all your soft bread dreams come true Steven, HA. You certainly are owed a ‘Biggest Fan Award’ after all the publicity you’ve given them in your posts. PS….those donuts are madness, look at the sugar!
I think your speculation of a return date is very close to being accurate. We have already begun planning on the relaunch later this month. I’m not sure if I am allowed to divulge the exact return date but you can be assured that Home Pride and Wonder breads will return to CA soon.
