Tonight I was back in Patterson for a potluck and talent show. All this week there has been a group of young people visiting our congregation. Tonight being the last night we had a trip ending shindig at the barn of one of our members. You can see a nice daytime picture of the barn in a post from last week. Click on: Barns
Even though it was a bit hot today (100+) the humidity was not too high and it had started to cool off. It was a beautiful night with an almost full moon.
I was lucky to get a pretty nice shot of the moon. You can really see the detail. Not bad for my little camera.
When I get around old buildings I like to take pictures of details.
Here is an interesting shot of a light high up on the end of the barn. I really like the detail of the cobwebs and the way that they stand out against the red of the boards.
After a great potluck we had the talent show and got to listen to several groups and individual play music, tell jokes, give a little trivia and even perform a joke skit. I was not paying too much attention to the settings on my camera and didn’t get the best pictures. I was more interested in watching the show.
This one didn’t turn out too bad. I really liked listening to these two play. When I saw the banjo I thought maybe I would get to hear some bluegrass. Unfortunately, they didn’t play bluegrass, but it was still a nice performance.
After the talent show it was time for clean up and another opportunity to take a few pictures. Here is one of my favorites.
You can barely see the outline of the roof of the barn, but I really like the way that the ground level is lit up. I also like what looks like a full moon in the sky. By this time the temps had dropped into the low 80’s and a breeze was stirring. A wonderful evening.
I will be back at the barn next weekend for the wedding of two of my friends. I hope to get some nice pictures to share with everyone. I will pay more attention to my camera settings :-).

What a fun night. I really love seeing old barns in the countryside too. They seem to be slowly disappearing from the landscape. Farmers here are replacing them with metal Quonsets to house their giant equipment.
