Today the blog counter rolled past 50,000. To me it is amazing that I have had so many page views in just over a year of blogging.

Roman Milestones in the Shephelah - Near Tell Goded or Marasheth Gath

Here is a picture of Roman milestones that I used in my post 10K Milestone. You can click on the link to find out more about the milestones. It took me five months to reach 10K and only eight more to get the next 40K.

As I look back at my blog posts, I can see where I have wandered to both physically and mentally. I have visited a few countries since I started the blog. I have been to Canada, Israel, Palestine, Mexico, South Korea and China and I have posted about each of these trips.

Canada Day - Canadian Flag - Toronto, Canada - Maple Leaf - FlagThe first posts in the blog were from a trip to Canada as I got used to my new i-Pad and also learned about blogging so that I was ready for my big trip to Israel and Palestine.

Dome of the Rock - Jerusalem - Israel - Vacation - Holy Land Trip - Bible Land Trip

The trip to Israel and Palestine has provided material for many posts. You can click on the Israel link at the top of the page for links to the different posts. I also have used pictures from the trip to illustrate a series of posts about Joshua, Judges and Ruth. The series is not complete and I need to get back to posting them. For links to the posts that have been completed you can click on: Walls of Jericho

My mind has also wandered all over the place and you can find diverse posts on anything from flowers to history or books. I do have a couple series that have generated a lot of traffic.

Two of my most visited posts come from a series called Religion in Family History. I have written about failed Amish settlements in California, Oregon and Oklahoma and have posts in the pipeline for a few other states. This evening I found an Amish guy in my library and had to take a picture.

Amish Beard - Amish - Beard without mustache - Amish Heritage

Oops, when I look at the picture I see that I didn’t have my hat on straight. Too late to take the picture again as I am now clean-shaven.

The series on Religion in Family History also explores some of the other religious groups in my family heritage. I have many more posts for this series in the planning stage.

The other big series of posts is my Home Pride Update series.

Home Pride Bread - Hostess Brands - Discontinued - Butter Top

I am still on a quest to find a temporary replacement for Home Pride Bread and have written over 30 posts about the process. Along the way I have also written about the ongoing saga of the Hostess Brands as they find new homes. One of those iconic products will be launching again in just eight days. Twinkies will return to the shelves on July 15.

This is just a small sample of the many different type of posts that I have written. I sometimes wonder if I would have more traffic if I was more focused, but I really need a creative outlet for my wanderings.

I also passed another milestone a few days ago when I posted Spirit of ’76 and noticed that it was post number 400. I am also very close to another round number with 296 followers.

Thanks to everyone for visiting my blog, and I hope that you will continue to drop by.

IT’S OFFICIAL!!! Home pride is coming back!!! I got this off the flowers foods website under latest news…

I too love Home Pride Bread but got an upsetting reply from Hostess on their Facebook page.

The answer to your questions about Home Pride can be found within my Home Pride Update posts. Especially the most recent one on July 9.

      • PapaKaster says:

From what I have found so far the press release from Flowers Foods only indicates the purchase of the bread lines but give no indication that the Home Pride will return. I want Home Pride back just as much as anyone else but if the people who run the Hostess Facebook have correct information we will not see it return. 😦

      • vanbraman says:

The Hostess on Facebook is the new Hostess company. They only purchased the snack cakes. They have no interest in giving out information about products that they do not own. You will see a return of the breads with Flowers Foods, it is only a matter of time.
