Chicken Coops

I have been busy tonight helping a friend so will make a quick post.

When looking through a box of pictures I ran across a few that brought back some good memories.

We grew up in a small rural town, so had the opportunity to raise some of our own animals for food. Here you see one of our chicken coops. Raising the chickens was the idea of my next youngest brother, so I only got to see them when I was home from college.

Now we have two chickens in the chicken yard. We had quite a few chickens which gave us enough eggs for daily use.

Here is the second chicken coop. This one looks small, but this is just the chicken run. It is connected to a larger coop behind where the chickens would lay their eggs.

I remember this big black rooster. He had a very loud crow and was a mean old bird. He was definitely the king of the roost.

I am sure that my brother has much clearer memories of his chickens. Raising chickens was definitely hard work.

Did you ever raise chickens?

Steven

We did, and they ran around the yard during the day and we shut them in the chicken house at night. Our rooster hated my younger sister and chased her around the farm pecking her heels. She became a speed runner πŸ™‚
