Today was the last day of class, so to celebrate the successful completion of the test, my students took me out to eat at an Argentinian restaurant. Actually it was more of a celebration for them, as they worked hard in the class. After some great Ribeye tacos we headed back to the office.
We drove through the colorful streets of Coyoacan.
I really like this great piece of wall art. It is definitely in the Mexican tradition. I was only able to get about two-thirds of the mural, but it is an interesting look at graffiti. Coyoacan has an interesting mix of sanctioned and non-sanctioned wall art.
Today was a dreary, rainy day and the windows of the car were a bit dirty. It made for some interesting shots when I tried to take pictures with the window up.
Although blurry, and obviously focused on the window, this picture shows the wonderful colors of some of the houses along our route. Also looks like a painting, not sure what style :-).
This picture was a little better as it was taken through the windshield. I really like this pink house with the beautiful ironwork on the windows and door. Also the beautiful Jacaranda tree above the house and street. With the rain the streets and sidewalks were also littered with a coat of Jacaranda blossoms.
A little further down the street was another nice house. This time a blue one with orange highlights and with nice ironwork on the windows. The house also has a wooden garage door that really looks nice. My eyes are also drawn to the many overhead wires. Where I live most utilities are underground in residential areas so it is interesting to see so many wires.
The trip is winding down and I am making sure I have everything ready for the trip home. However, I had one more thing that I had to do. I had to have a Mexican Coke in Mexico. One of my colleagues got a bottle for me to take back to the hotel. I did have to go hunting for a bottle opener as there was not one in my room. I found one of the waiters from the restaurant and he opened the bottle for me. The bottle really made a pop when it opened. Much louder than a normal coke, but maybe it is just the altitude.
The Mexican Coke definitely has a different flavor than the Coke in the US. A bit more complex. I may have to pick up some when I get back home. I know of at least a handful of stores near me that carry Mexican Coke :-).

Lovely to see the streets through your eyes, Steven. They look lovely.
The street art is fascinating. It is interesting how different cities have very different types of public art.
Awesome, pictures and commentary!!!!
