Another busy Wednesday, so another short post tonight.
Tonight we have three pictures of morpho butterflies. This is a Peleides Blue Morpho (Morpho peleides) also known as The Emperor.
I really like this picture with the little butterfly to the left.
The Peleides Blue Morpho is a tropical butterfly and is found in Mexico, Central America and the tropical areas of South America.
These pictures come from the Berniece Grewcock Butterfly and Insect Pavilion at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.
The butterflies live off the juice of rotting fruits, so honey water is also a delight for them.
These butterflies are so beautiful and I am glad that they posed for me to take their pictures.
Steven
Love butterflies. We’ve taken hundreds of photos of them over the years. Thanks for posting this beautiful Blue Morpho.
The Peleides Blue Morpho is absolutely beautiful. Is its color as intense as it looks in the photo?
The color is really intense. It is also iridescent so they shimmer a bit.
They are so beautiful, thanks Steven. Looks like that first little fellow had a rough time of things…it’s wing is a little messed up.
