Today my mind has wandered to this picture that I took in Taipei.
I took the picture while I was out walking one evening. When I saw the sculpture I knew that I had to take a picture of it as it was so beautiful.
I really love this sculpture of the hands that are folded together. Today for the first time I was able to find out the name of this sculpture. The name is ‘Close’. The sculpture is supposed to represent convergence. To me however, this picture has always meant something else. To me this sculpture represents contemplation and prayer.
Here is why I thought about this picture today. This morning when I got up and started checking my messages I found out that a long time family friend had passed away. Today I have been thinking of her many family members that I know. They are spread around the world. I know some of her children and grandchildren that live in Colorado, Iowa, Missouri and also in Taiwan. I was able to visit with the ones who live in Taipei when I visited there for work a couple of years ago.
As I was thinking about them today I thought of this picture and knew that I wanted to share it tonight. It reminds me that many people will be praying for her family as they prepare to meet together to celebrate her life this weekend. I am sure that they will have many memories to share.
Here is another picture that I took that same night as I was out walking.
I ran across this picture while I was looking for the picture of the sculpture. I just had to share it as it is also one of my favorite pictures from the trip. Taipei 101 towers above the surrounding neighborhood and drew my sight upward whenever I had a view of it.

I’m very sorry to hear you’ve lost your friend Steven. I’m sure it will be a sad time for them. It’s comforting to be together during those times. That sculpture looks giant. I have a whole collection of hands, mostly milk glass. I get really excited when I find one. Currently in storage, along with a lot of things I love. Take Care.
So sorry to hear about your loss, Steven.
That hand sculpture looks breathtaking. I’d love to see it close up one day.
I also am sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. The hand sculpture is wonderful. It is so thought-provoking.
My condolence on the loss of your family friend. This wonderful sculpture reminds me of Albrecht Dürer’s artwork of the praying hands.
I love days when I have the time to catch up on blogs I like best. Those hands are something else!!
Thanks, I am glad that you enjoy my wanderings.
