Slow Lunch

When you are working and have limited time for lunch it’s always important to have fast service.

I often have to wait for students to come back from lunch when they have slow service. Today the students were lucky that I was with them because we had a slow lunch.

I won’t name the restaurant, but today we went out for all-you-can-eat Japanese and Thai food. The ordering process was a bit complicated and we asked for help from the waiter to make sure we were marking down enough food on the form. The waiter was very short with us and just said to mark down what you want and if you need more later you can get a new form. He left without taking our drink order and took so long to get back to us that we finally had to flag down one of the food runners. We figured out the order form and finally food started to arrive. I will say that the food was good. However, it was simply dropped off at the table by a food runner with little explanation or even inquiry as to whether we needed anything else. We did not see our actual waiter for more than 30 minutes after we first asked for help with the form, and that was only to drop off one of the dishes. We finally had to flag down someone else to even pay the bill.

Needless to say we will not be back there for lunch, but it may be a good restaurant if I want to read a book without my waiter interrupting me :-).
