SFO to YYZ

SFO is an easily recognized airport code, it is for the San Francisco International Airport.air canada 777, SFO, YYZ, airportsYYZ is not so easy. However, if you know that all Canadian airport codes start with Y then you know that it is in Canada.air canada 777, SFO, YYZ, airportsHere is the Air Canada 777 that I flew on from SFO to YYZ today.air canada 777, SFO, YYZ, airportsIf you have been following my posts you know that I was flying to Toronto this week.air canada 777, SFO, YYZ, airportsSo, how does Toronto have an airport code of YYZ?  For this you have to go back in history. The Toronto Pearson Airport was built on the site of Malton, Ontario. Back in the days of the telegraph, the Canadian Railway station at Malton had a telegraph code of YZ.

You would think that Toronto would be YTO, but this was already in use as an umbrella code for all the Toronto area airports.
SFO, Kota Esawa, Beatles, JFK
One more picture from the trip. Today was the first time I have taken a picture of this artwork at the San Francisco airport. I usually don’t make it down as far as Gate 100, and it has only been there for about two years. This piece of art based on the iconic picture of the Beatles arriving at JFK on their first tour of the US was created by Kota Ezawa.

I always enjoy the art at the San Francisco airport.

Back to the Kingbridge Centre

Tomorrow I head north to Canada for another training trip.

Kingbridge Centre, Toronto, Training Center, WinterThis time I will be going back to the Kingbridge Centre north of Toronto.

I held a training at the Kingbridge Centre back in March 2011, but since then have held training courses in our Toronto office.

You can see that it was a bit snowy then.

Kingbridge Centre, Toronto, Training Center, WinterI am sure that the view from my room will be much greener on this trip.

Kingbridge Centre, Toronto, Training Center, WinterWe had some interesting views of a pond with some circles in the ice. There will definitely not be any ice this time.

Kingbridge Centre, Toronto, Training Center, WinterThe Kingbridge Centre has a nice walking track that has views of the surroundings. This was very nice in the winter as it was way too cold to go outside. This time I hope to go walking on the trails that loop through the woods.

Kingbridge Centre, Toronto, Training Center, WinterAs I mentioned we spent our time indoors. They had a nice seating are just outside the dining room. I will be having most of my meals over the next two weeks in the dining room there. I remember eating some good food.

I will not be missing my commute during the next two weeks.  For the next two weeks I will have a short walk to the training room through the hallways of the centre.

Going back to the Kingbridge Centre reminds me of some very dear friends I will see on the weekend. It was during the 2011 trip when I first met them.
