Oak Island – Big Boulder in the Swamp

The Curse of Oak Island season 11 continues with the finding of more interesting items.

Curse of Oak Island, mystery, curse, oak island, Google Maps, Island locationsThe causeway to the island continues to be busy with all the workers and the experts that look at the finds.

Curse of Oak Island, mystery, curse, oak island, Google Maps, Island locations Tonight they found a big boulder in the swamp. Around the boulder they found a large number of wood pieces and also a row of stones or rocks.

They also showed progress in the Garden Shaft as they continue to extended it almost to the depth they are looking to reach. They received a report on the piece of wood they retrieved from the possible tunnel below the Garden Shaft. The wood dates from possible the early 1600’s which would be well before the discover of the Money Pit.

Curse of Oak Island, mystery, curse, oak island, Google Maps, Island locationsIn the area around the stone circle they found some hardened earth and sent it to the lab for analysis. The soil sample was analyzed and was a close match to soil from deep in the Money Pit Area. The close samples were from the Garden Shaft and surrounding areas.

The soil samples did not match any other samples from the island. It is interesting that they found similar soil was in both Lot 5 and the Garden Shaft.

Curse of Oak Island, mystery, curse, oak island, Google Maps, Island locationsThey also reached the bottom of another bore hole and found what may be remains from the missing plug from a previous season.

They discussed the importance of the soil match at the end of the episode. Does this make a connection between Lot 5 and the possibility of it being a work camp?

It is also interesting to have another episode with only a brief mention of the Templars and instead more possible connections to Phipps.

In the preview for next week they showed them continuing to investigate the big boulder in the swamp, and talk about Nolan’s Cross. They also showed some digging in the bottom of the Garden Shaft with a possible find.

What did they find?

I will not see the next three episodes until I return from a trip to Africa. It will be interesting to see where they are in the search when I get back.

Some interesting developments this week as they continue to hunt for the slippery treasure.

Lincoln’s Birthday 2024

Today was President Lincoln’s Birthday. For some people today was a holiday, but for most of us, we didn’t get a holiday for Lincoln’s Birthday.

Tracy Library, Flower Gardens, Rose Gardens, NatureOur local library is closed today for Lincoln’s Birthday and will be closed again next Monday for Washington’s Birthday. In a way I get next Monday off, as I will be sleeping half way around the world during work hours. It is a good thing I went to the library on Saturday to return books that are due while I am on the trip.

ECHOJ Dublin, California, Alameda County Courts, East County Hall of JusticeMost State offices like the East County Hall of Justice are closed today in observance of Lincoln’s Birthday.

The post office is open and mail will be delivered today, but not next Monday for Washington’s Birthday.

I did take some time today to look at some of my Lincoln books, and also some stamps. President Lincoln is on a lot of stamps.

Abraham Lincoln, Books, Lincoln's Birthday, Reading ListHere is just a sampling of some of the Lincoln books that I have. I know that I have at least 40 books about Lincoln.

Rose Bloom, Red Rose, Fragant Rose, Mr. Lincoln RoseIt is too early for my Mister Lincoln roses bush to have blooms, but it has started to grow new foliage. I did take a picture of a lady bug crawling on the almost bare canes. It will not be long until leaves will start to unfurl.

Presidents Washington and Lincoln - Presidents' Day - Marx Presidential FigurinesAs I sit here writing this on my computer I just glanced down  and looked at my Lincoln Marx Presidents figurine.

Washington and Lincoln have sat on top of my computer for quite some time, but I recently moved them to just below my screen as I have placed it on a stand. Most of the other Presidents in the Marx series are on a shelf in the living room. However, Jefferson has also joined Washington and Lincoln here on my desk.

How did you observe Lincoln’s Birthday?
