Oak Island – Two Weeks till Season 11

The 11th season of  The Curse of Oak Island now has a premier date. The first episode of the next season will be November 7 on the History channel.Curse of Oak Island, History Channel, Did they find anything?Leading up to the premier they are showing some recaps of the previous season or seasons. These Top Ten episodes will build interest in the season, and remind everyone of what happened in the last one.

The show this week is Top Moments From Season Ten. Previously they showed Top 10 Ancient Structures and the Top 10 Treasure Theories.  Next week will be the Top Ten Finds of Season Ten

When I watched the episode from last week I noticed that they gave the premier date several times. The 11th season will start on November 7.

We now just have two recaps from the last season to help us get ready for the next season and then something new.

We do know that they experienced bad weather multiple times during the season, and it will most likely be a big story line as the season progresses.

Oak Island, treasure, Randal SullivanWill we see weather as a reason why they can’t find the slippery treasure?

It would be interesting to see how they show the effects of weather throughout the year. There was a huge rainstorm and flooding earlier in the year, which most likely affected work in the swamp.

It would actually interesting to see what would have happened if they were hit harder by the storms. What would be exposed if a huge storm system hits the island? I know how rains effect a normal archaeological dig and they always secure the area during the rainy season. However, as spread out as the sites are on Oak Island and the large areas of beach there is sure to be something uncovered in a large storm.

Curse of Oak Island, Mahone Bay, Nova ScotiaOnce the new season starts airing it will be interesting to see where they have been digging or exploring this year. Did they open up areas that were susceptible to a big storm?

Did they undertake one of the big projects they have proposed in the past? If so, they will probably need to curtail the projects late in the year due to weather. It does look like things may have been wrapped up before the latest weather hit. Did they wrap up early or just take a break for the weather?

Oak island, map, curse of oak island, pier, new workIn satellite pictures on map sites it looks like there is some activity in additional areas. It will be interesting to see what this activity is. The pier is in the older picture just above this one, but the area to the right seems to be new.

The operations at the site will have already been completed by the time the season starts, so perhaps they will give hints of what is to come later in the season. I saw a video of a drilling rig heading back to the island after Lee passed by, so they must still have been at work last month. Does this mean that they didn’t find anything and were still searching?

What will they find this year? Will they find the slippery treasure and finally wrap up the show?

Door Day

Next week many people around the world will celebrate a holiday that has to do with doors. That is right, Reformation Day is next Tuesday. Also, it is Halloween which is a day where many people will open their doors to children in the United States.

Wittenberg 360, Yadegar Asisi, Luther 1517, ReformationOn October 31, 1517 Martin Luther posted his 95 Thesis to the doors of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. The original wooden doors were destroyed over 250 years ago by fire. The current doors are made of bronze and have hung there since 1858.

This event is considered to be the spark that ignited the Reformation Movement.

Castle Church Wittenberg, Martin Luther, 95 theses, church doors, Mighty FortressOne of the reminders I received about the holiday this week was the fact that some of our German offices will be closed on Tuesday next week for Reformation Day. Our other German offices will be closed on Wednesday for another holiday.

What is the difference? Our offices in Jena are in the Protestant area of the country and they celebrate Reformation Day and our offices in Munich and Oberkochen are in the Catholic area that celebrates All Saint’s Day and All Souls Day.

Wartburg - Eisenach, Germany - Martin Luther - Reformation DayI have written several posts about Martin Luther and the Reformation Movement. You can find links to some of these posts by visiting Reformation Day Posts.
