Christmas Lunch

This year I was on my own for preparing my Christmas meal.

The last time I went to the grocery store I picked up some items for my feast. I decided that since I had Turkey for Thanksgiving I would try to cook a pork loin for Christmas.

Christmas lunch, pork loin, potatoes, salad, tea, bread, cornI picked up a small pork loin and had marinated it overnight with miso. I then quartered the potatoes and put them all in the pan. The picture is from before adding an additional miso infused liquid.

I knew that the cooking time for the potatoes was longer than for the pork so did pre-cook them in the microwave. However, they still needed some additional time after the pork was done. Perhaps next time I will use softer potatoes.

It was pretty simple with Sunflower Nuts, Craisins (have to have cranberries during the holidays) and of course some Dorothy Lynch dressing. Thanks to my sister for sending me the dressing. They don’t have it in the stores here in California.

Christmas lunch, pork loin, potatoes, salad, tea, bread, cornI soon had my plate made up and was ready to eat after giving thanks for the many blessings we have received. Especially the great spiritual blessing that was given to all of us long ago.

I really enjoyed the good meal and now I have leftovers that will last almost the rest of the year.

Did you have a good Christmas meal?

Anker Nativity IV

Tonight I am sharing the fourth and final Nativity Scene that I have built from the Ankerstein plan books.

I will start with the second drawing in the plan book.

We do know that the wise men did not visit till later, so having them in this picture is not correct. However, when putting together a nativity scene people tend to include everyone at the same moment in time and place.

The setting is also translated into the future, as this would not be what a first century place for animals would look like 🙂

These nine boxes of stones make up set number NF22. If you contrast this structures from the ones (I, II, III) that I posted earlier, you will see that this one is not only bigger, but has more detail with the increased variety in stone shapes and sizes.

You can visit my first post about Ankerstein to find out more about how the set system works.

I have looked through the plan books through the rest of the boxes and this is the last of the Nativity scenes. However, perhaps I can find some plans that others have created for next year.

I hope everyone has a good Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas.
