Lego Masters Finale Disappointment

After watching the Lego Masters all through this second season I was all excited to watch the finale.

The builds from the three teams that were left all looked fantastic.

The judges had given feedback on all three builds and were deliberating.

The show went to commercial break.

During the commercial break there was breaking news as the Governor wanted to give a speech after he was declared safe from his recall.

Lego Flowers, Singapore, Gardens by the Bay, Cloud Forest, Lego FlowersCould he not have waited five minutes and given the speech at the top of the hour?

The station  announced after the speech that they would announce the winners of Lego Masters during the 10 o’clock news.

This is like watching all but the last minute of a sporting event and coming back from commercial to watch a movie. Oh, wait didn’t that happen 53 years ago here in California?

At least I can look up who won on the internet, which I haven’t done yet.

Do I try to avoid seeing the result and watch the show again on demand tomorrow and get that same build up to the reveal of the winner. This would be difficult to do as the newspaper tomorrow morning will have an article as one of the teams is from Stockton.

I guess I will just check and see who won.

Thank you Newsome.

Steven

p.s. The only picture I used in this post is of Lego flowers from Singapore Gardens by the Bay.

Voting Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Election Day in California.

California Voter Information Guide, Daylight Saving Time, Voting, Prop 7In this election we are deciding two things. Do we recall our governor, and if so who will replace him.

Election material, Sample Ballot, Election Information, Candidate MailersWe have not received masses of election adds in the mail like normal, but all Californians have received a ballot in the mail.

Old Voting Machine - Goldwater - Johnson - Presidential ElectionI have not sent my ballot in as I will go and vote in person in the morning.

I will not be using an old voting machine like the one above, but will probably just fill out a scannable form.

We have been flooded with commercials on TV and also targeted adds on social media.

The recall has been called the Republican Recall despite it starting out as a bi-partisan recall movement. A lot has changed since they started gathering signatures for the recall. The original recall was about a new tax, and now there is more of a focus on what will happen with other issues if the governor is recalled. What will we do without the person who has kept California safe during the pandemic?

I am also getting tired of the commercials showing national political figures telling us how to vote on California issues. Why is Elizabeth Warren schooling us on how to vote? I can understand our Vice President having a say since she is a Californian, but why has our President finally decided to come tour the wildfire sites in California after fires have been raging for months. Couldn’t he have waited until our elections were over, or better yet shown some support earlier in the fire season?

I am torn a bit as to how to vote, as I really do not trust in what will happen with a new governor, where we know that our current governor will simply continue to follow his elitist principles and continue to broker deals that benefit him.

The latest thing I am upset about with him, is that he only re-implemented COVID protocols for government employees (including schools) and not the general population during the current spike.

I Voted Sticker, Vote Sticker, Flag StickerTomorrow the voting will be over, but all the returns will not come in for several days as those voting by mail just have to have their ballot postmarked by election day.

Will we know the results tomorrow night, or will this drag out all week?

Steven
