Zoo Checklist

This week I have been preparing for a virtual course in Sao Paulo and I have been thinking about my last trip there in 2019.

Sao Paulo Zoo, zoos, South AmericaWhile in Sao Paulo I visited the zoo and it has me thinking about what zoos I have visited around the world. Had I visited zoos or safari parks on all continents?

South America – Check

Omaha Zoo, Henry Doorly Zoo, Tiger Bite, Drunk Woman, Stupid PeopleI have visited the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, plus many others in the US.

Toronto Zoo, Zoos, Toronto, CanadaI have also visited the Toronto Zoo.

North America – Check

Rhino and Lion, Nature Reserve, Animals, South AfricaI visited a Rhino and Lion park near Johannesburg, South Africa. Although technically a nature reserve, it is set up as a safari park and I am going to count it as a zoo for this quest.

Africa – Check

Himalayan Tahr at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney, AustraliaI have visited the Taronga Zoo in Sydney several times.

Australia – Check

Ueno Zoo, Tokyo Zoo, Giant Panda, Pandas, TokyoI have visited the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo as well as zoos in Singapore and in Mysore, India. I have also visited a couple of nature reserves in India.

Asia – Check

Jena, Germany, Museum, phyletisches museumI searched my memory to see if I had visited a zoo in Europe, and the only thing close was a visit to the Phyletisches Museum in Jena, Germany. For this quest, it needs to be live animals.

Europe – No

Perhaps on my next trip to Germany I will try and visit the zoo in Leipzig. I actually thought about it during my last trip. Now that it is the only continent that I need for my zoo quest I may have to make it happen.

Orca near Melchior Island, AntarcticaWait, there are seven continents. There are of course no zoos in Antarctica, but I did see many animals in the wild there when I cruised along the Antarctic Peninsula. Here is an orca that I saw on the trip.

The cruise was a water and ice safari in a big boat 🙂

Antarctica – N/A but Check 🙂

Have you visited a zoo on a continent other than the one you live on?

Wednesday Image Search – AA

Welcome to another Wednesday Image Search where I pick a string of letters or a word and share some of the images I find in an image search of the blog.

Awhile back I searched for ‘hat’ and ‘bat’ so started a theme of ‘?at’ words. I finished the theme, so had to think of something different for tonight.

First I changed from Wednesday Word Search to Wednesday Image Search. I often would simply search for a string of letters instead of a word, so hence the change.

Tonight I am going to start a new theme of double vowels with ‘aa’.

These should be interesting. There are a lot of words with double vowels.

What images will I find?

Butter, Grade AA, Butter RiceWith the first image we have some Grade AA butter.  I used this picture in a post about butter rice.

Braai, sausage, steak, chops, hot dogsThe second image is of a good South African braai.

Abel Beth-Maacah, Joab, Abel, Sheba, Archaeology, Dig SiteNext is an image of Abel Beth-Maacah in Israel. I have visited this tel during several of my visits to Israel. They are finding some interesting things here and learning more about the northern border of Israel.

Grand Bazaar, Istanbul, Shopping, Cultural, TurkeyBack in 2014 I visited the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. I have a lot of memories of this trip.

Saale River, Fall, Germany, Jena, Germany, Colorful treesFinally we have a nice view of the Saale River in Jena, Germany.

I had a lot of images to pick from, and had to make some tough decisions on what to share.

Which is your favorite of these pictures?

What should I search for next? I think I will continue the theme of double vowels with ‘ee’.
