Early Digital Yosemite II

Tonight I was looking back through some old digital pictures and ran across some from a trip to Yosemite. I remembered that I had written a post about some of the pictures about eight years ago, so thought I would write a second post with more pictures.

See: Early Digital Yosemite

The trip was made about 18 years ago when my parents came out to California with my Grandpa. I will share a picture of him further down in the post.

Yosemite, national park, half dome, early digitalThe pictures were taken with a digital camera that saved the images on floppy disks. Not the best resolution in a 640×480 image.

However, these early digital pictures bring back some good memories.

Here is a view down the Yosemite Valley. In the background of this picture you can barely see Half Dome.

For a better view of Half Dome you can visit my Tuolumne Grove post.

Yosemite National Park - Granpa at Yosemite - John Muir - MemoriesThis is one of my favorite pictures that I took of my Grandpa. This picture makes me think of John Muir and other early explorers of the Yosemite valley.

These pictures bring back some great memories of this trip long ago.

Thinking of Argentina

During the past two week I have had a student in my class who is from Argentina. This has made me think of my visits to Argentina, so I will share a few pictures from my travels tonight.

Ushuaia Argentina - ReflectionsI will start with this picture from Ushuaia which is the southernmost city in the world. My sister and I visited here while on a cruise to Antarctica.

I really like the reflections in this picture.

Great Dane, Large Dog, Buenos Aires, ArgentinaAnother memory from Argentina is this picture of me with a Great Dane.  While I was teaching a course in Buenos Aires the dog’s owner walked by the hotel where we were staying each evening. We had some good conversations with her.

Stalking Horse Bidder - Hostess Brands - Dolly Madison - TwinkiesThis picture reminds me of a wonderful meal we had at the Estancia Santa Susana near Buenos Aires. After getting off of the cruise ship, we visited this ‘ranch’ before heading to the airport.

Colorful houses in La Boca, ArgentinaWe saw some colorful houses in La Boca.

ribs, sheep, argentina, buenos aires, bbq ribsOne of my most memorable meals in Argentina during my first trip was when my host took me to eat ribs at his favorite restaurant Posta Recoleta. The lamb ribs were absolutely delicious and the meal was a wonderful experience. During my second trip to Argentina he met my sister and I at our hotel and took us to the same place.

Good memories.
