This evening I noticed that a post I wrote nine years ago was getting some visits. I decided to figure out why. I found that there was a link to my post The Cobden House on a website called Old House Dreams.
Back in October 2014 I had helped with the clean up of an old Victorian house in Big Oak Flat, California.
In the comment to the article where the link was shared there was a wish that there were some interior shots so I will share a few of them. They are not much, but are interesting.
Here is a picture of the outside from my previous post.
There was really not much to see in the downstairs of the house as it had pretty much been cleaned out and just the walls and woodwork were remaining.
There was an interesting light fixture hanging on the ceiling of one of the downstairs room, but was taken down to be cleaned. My friend took it home and cleaned it up.
After it was cleaned up, you can see the original beauty of the fixture.
The rooms upstairs were a bit more interesting because of their shape due to the roof.
However, they had also been cleared out.
This reminded me of a house that I grew up in where there the upstairs rooms also had slanted ceilings.
This was one of my favorite pictures. We opened the window in one of the upstairs rooms to take a peek outside.
Perhaps I should share some more pictures of the outside.
For more information about the Cobden House you can visit the website of the Groveland Museum.
