Oak Island – Rehabilitating A Shaft

Season 10 of The Curse of Oak Island is off to a good start.

Last week on Oak Island there was a lot about of information about the Garden Shaft. This week started off with more information about how they were going to rehabilitate the shaft.

Curse of Oak Island, History Channel, Did they find anything?Of course, one thing to remember is that the dig season is already over. They have taken the time to determine how to present things each week to build suspense and keep viewers tuned in.

oak Island, Money Pit, Mahone BayThey also continued to drill bore holes in the Money Pit area looking for shafts and tunnels. They found another piece of wood that could be part of a tunnel in an area where it was not expected

They collected some water from the new bore hole to see if there was any evidence of gold.

Later they started another new bore hole closer to and in line with the Garden Shaft and found another possible tunnel.

The pieces of wood that were brought up in both bore holes were dated to earlier that the searcher tunnels, so this is intriguing.

Curse of Oak Island, Mahone Bay, Nova ScotiaThey showed some of the results from the LIDAR program and identified an area that may have been a camp and have started excavating small test squares.

oak island, curse of oak lsland, satellite, money pitThey also did some more metal detecting near the area identified in the LIDAR program and found an spot where a lot of metal was buried. They also found some lead sheeting. They believe this trove of metal may be connected to the wharf they may have found last year. This area is also close to where they found the lead bag seal, so this further builds the connection to unloading supplies at a wharf.

They also showed them starting to put together the structures that will be used in the rehabilitation of the Garden Shaft.

In the preview of the next episode they showed the beginning of the rehabilitation program for the Garden shaft, along with some images from a tunnel. There was no indication where the tunnel was, perhaps they lowered a camera down a bore hole like they did previously.

It looks like things will get interesting next week. It will be a multi-month project to rehabilitate the shaft so it will probably several weeks before anything would be found there.

What will happen next?
