Tonight I am sharing some old digital pictures of Wartburg, Germany.
I was using a camera that saved the pictures on a diskette, so the resolution is not too good. I took these pictures back in the late 90’s during one of my first trips to Germany.
Wartburg is a castle in Eisenach, Germany and is on the World Heritage List. The castle is steeped in history.
We visited Wartburg on a snowy day and had a picturesque walk up to the entrance of the castle.
It was really cool to walk along the walls and see the interesting construction.
A lot of history took place behind the walls of this palace.
We finally made it to the top and were able to take a closer look at the half-timber buildings. I also have some pictures from inside the castle, but decided to just share outside pictures in this post.
There were some interesting events from the Reformation that took place in the castle.
I will end with a nice peaceful view of a snow covered courtyard with a view of the fog. I can imagine the view on a clear day.
Do you know who took refuge at Wartburg after the Diet of Worms?
