Tonight I was looking through some old pictures and ran across some pictures of the houses my grandparents live in near Hamburg, Iowa.
None of the houses are actually within the small town of Hamburg, but I thought I would share here a long ago picture from Main Street in Hamburg.
My first memories of visiting my Grandparents were when they lived on Bluffdale Heights just west of Hamburg. They had a great view of the Missouri River Valley. I still remember having to go out to the outhouse when we visited.
Here is a picture of the house on Bluffdale Heights. It was an old two story house surrounded by trees and flowers. My Grandfather worked at Interstate Nurseries.
Next we go back in time to the house where my Father grew up near Coin, Iowa. When he was a teenager the family moved to Hamburg.
Here is another picture of the house on the farm near Coin. The house sat empty for many years after they moved as the house no longer sat square on the foundation. It had been twisted by a twister.
Here is the house that I really remember visiting. This was know as the Geyer Farm and was about seven miles east of Hamburg. The house was down a dirt road well off the beaten path. The house is no longer standing, but my memories of it remain.
