We had a very hot weekend, but finally I just had to get out there and mow my front yard.

The grass was just out of control. I kept making excuses like not wanting to have dried out trimmings on the lawn when fireworks go off.

But I finally just had to do it.

However, it was just too hot this weekend. Yesterday the temperature made it up to 109 and it was forecast to be 106 today.

Finally the temperature hit the peak and started cooling down. The peak was only at about 104 and it started cooling a bit earlier than expected. Plus the wind had started to blow.

I finally went out a half hour before sundown when the temps had dropped to 90 degrees.

I had to attack some of the grass with my trimmer as it was too high for the mower.

However, I finally got it all mowed and cleaned up and it looks a bit better.

However, the strip between the driveway and the neighbor’s ‘rock garden’ is not in very good shape. The grass was too tall and blocking the sprinklers.

I was dripping with sweat by the time I was finished with my small yard, but it was worth it to have it finally done. For now….

It will be much cooler this week with temperatures only in the 90’s so perhaps I will go out and mow the back yard one night after work.

It is about 15 degrees cooler than it was at this time last night. I will be able to get a good night of sleep tonight without the loud sounds of the air conditioning.
