This is the weekend of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and it always makes me think of several things.

One of my first thoughts is of course of my dog Pat.

I also think of the old Ottumwa Coliseum. I remember  going to a dog show there long ago. A family friend of ours was a dog breeder, and if I remember right we went with her.

Of course, the Coliseum brings back many other memories. I remember going to a Cow and Calf show there with my Dad. I remember watching a horseshoe competition in the basement. I also remember going to a big  church gathering there.

My Dad was also a waterfront commissioner for awhile and I remember going with him when he would be there for one thing or another.

I also think of my Dad as he used to work for Ralston Purina which is a big sponsor of the dog show.

Another person I think of is my friend Betsie who is an owner of show dogs. I always look forward to her posts about her Welsh Springers and watch for them on the show.
