This evening I ran across a stack of classroom cash from long ago.
Many times a teacher will have a reward system. In one of our science classes Mr. Coverdale gave out classroom cash for doing things good and we had to pay fines if we did something wrong.
Of course, when you run out of money you have to print more and there were special issues with slogans, etc..
Some of them were special print runs when we were playing games against neighboring towns.
Of course the bills changed hands. Some of the students would write their names or initials on the back of them. I did not find any with mine on them. Perhaps I wasn’t afraid of losing them 🙂
Here on this 20 point bill you can tell that our mascot was the Bluejay.
There was even a run of bills with a misprint. I wonder if it is worth more?
Here is a 50, but they went even higher.
Here is the 100 point bill. You can see that the copying was not always the best as sometimes the ends of the bills would be cut off.
Finally there was so much inflation that even bills for 500 points had to be printed.
I really don’t remember what we could use the bills for. Perhaps we could turn them in for extra credit. I know that it must not have been something I needed as in this stack there are over 5,000 points and I have some more somewhere else.
However, they bring back good memories and sometimes memories are priceless.
Now if I can only figure out who the figure is on the 500.
