This afternoon the sky has been tinged with red.
Here was the sky as I was leaving this afternoon for a quick trip to drop off books at the library. You can see the red in the clouds. Not something that is good to see at 2:00 in the afternoon.
Here is another view from the library parking lot. The red is not as intense, but you can better see that the color is from smoke that is in the clouds.
Later in the afternoon the sky was even more of a red color. Here you can see the sky reflected through the kitchen window onto the floor of the hallway.
Here you can definitely see the colorful sky caused by smoke in the air. You can tell that this is not the sunset as the sun is too high in the sky.
There are some big wildfires in the hills between the Central Valley and the coast of California. During the big thunderstorms over the weekend many fires were started by lighting strikes.
I did not have as dramatic of a view from the backyard, but the red sky can still be seen.
I had smelt some smoke last night when taking a late walk, but it really intensified throughout today.
I hope that the fires are contained as I have friends near Patterson that may have to evacuate if they aren’t.
Along with temperatures well above 100, it was not a very nice day. I hope that it cools down soon as rolling blackouts are forecast because of the high power demand.
