Did you know that today was National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day?
Of course a PBJ starts out with the right bread. For me that is Home Pride Butter Top Wheat bread.
Then you need to make sure you have the right peanut butter. I always have a jar of JIF Creamy Peanut Butter on my counter. It is the best peanut butter for a good PBJ.
I am going to cheat a little bit here and have jam instead of jelly.
Of course that means some Smucker’s Strawberry Jam.
There is a very good reason to choose Smucker’s. My great great grandfather Jeremiah Yoder was a second cousin of Ella Yoder the wife of the founder Jerome Monroe Smucker. I am also related to J.M. Smucker, but only a 4th cousin.
Since Jif is also a Smucker’s brand it makes for a good combination.
Here are the two pieces of bread spread with the sandwich fillings.
Of course the two halves must go together and my PBJ is ready to eat.
Of course the first bite was delicious. Memories of childhood PBJ’s came to mind as I enjoyed my sandwich.
Did you have a PBJ today?
Steven
Wrong jelly. It has to be grape!
I have my own peanut butter jar and mix jelly in it to taste. Then when the jar has only peanut butter again, I have the option to change taste of jelly or jam.
Still no luck finding Home Pride Bread bear where I live, but Brownberry 100% Whole Wheat has become my go-to bread lately. The favorite fillings – Jif Natural Creamy peanut butter, Aunt Sue’s Raw and Unfiltered Wildflower Honey, a sliced banana of whatever brand I can find, and Smucker’s Simply Fruit Seedless Black Raspberry Spreadable Fruit – are still my go-to fillings for a healthy and yummy sandwich. I’m actually eating one as I write this. *takes a bite* Mmm, so good.
Pete, I recommend that you contact Flowers Foods and ask them if they have plans for your area.
