Grandpa 101 – II

Today I have been thinking of my Grandpa Yoder who was born 101 years ago.

Back in 2013 I wrote a post Grandpa 101 about my Grandpa Braman, so now it is time for a similar post.

Grandpa - High School Graduation - Family PicturesI will share a few of my favorite pictures of him starting with this picture from when he was in High School.

Richard Yoder - Preacher - Frytown, Iowa - MemoriesHere is a picture of my Grandpa when he graduated from college. He went back to school later in life, so was not the typical age of a college graduate.

Lowenberg Bakery, Ottumwa, Iowa, GrandpaGrandpa worked at Lowenberg Bakery in Ottumwa, Iowa while going to college, so I thought I would add this picture here.

Grandparents, Ottumwa, Iowa, Siblings, Throwback ThursdayMy Grandparents moved to California before I was born, and this is a picture from their visit back to Ottumwa. Probably my first memory of them.

Yosemite National Park - Granpa at Yosemite - John Muir - MemoriesLater the tables were turned. I was living in California and my Grandpa was living back in the Midwest. My Grandpa came out to California for a visit and we made a visit to Yosemite.

A lot of memories tonight. I was also part of a Zoom meeting earlier tonight with my Mom, her siblings, some of my siblings and other family members. We had a good time of reflection as we sheltered in place.

I am also thinking that my Grandpa was born not long after the Great Influenza of 1918. I am sure that the country was still in recovery mode at that time.

The photo of your grandpa when he was still young looks slick! This makes me miss my own grandpa. Thanks for this, such a nice read.
