The last few times I have been to Jerusalem we have stayed at the New Imperial Hotel by the Jaffa Gate. It is really nice to stay in the Old City as it is walking distance from most of the places we want to visit.
I could have posted a picture of the hotel, but thought that this nice painting would be more interesting. The New Imperial was built in the 1880’s and has seen a lot of history in the Jaffa Gate area.
The hotel is definitely a bit eclectic with interesting room layouts, a lot of art in the common areas and just a cool ambiance. We also have to walk up a lot of stairs as there are no elevators.
The view from the roof of the New Imperial is really nice. You can see most of the Old City and the mountains that surround the city. We spent some time on the roof each weekend and it was also where we had our Sunday Morning services.
Here is a view from the roof of the hotel. You can see the domes of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to the left and the golden top of the Dome of the Rock to the right. You can also see the Mount of Olives in the distance.
Some nice memories as I write this tonight.
Now to get back to packing for my next trip…….
