A Visit to a Christmas Market

Mostly just some images tonight as I am about to fall asleep after a busy day and I still have a bit of jet lag.

Since it is December in Germany, that means that there are Christmas markets all over the place.

The German word for Christmas market is Weihnachtsmarkt.

You may think that they are just a place to buy gifts, but they also have entertainment, food and drinks. In fact, they are probably known more for the drinking and food than the vendors with all the gifts.

Here is one of the food stalls. They are all colorful and well lit up.

When I have visited the market in the evening it is full of people standing around drinking and eating and visiting with each other.

The restaurant I wanted to eat at tonight was right by the Christmas market, and I had to wait for a table. I did not want to stand outside in the cold and eat festival food.

Just a block away from the Christmas market there was a carnival with a bunch of rides. I may share some more pictures from the carnival in a later post.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.
