Today is the last day of 2016 and a time to look back over the year. Last year at this time I was home between trips to England, and this year I am getting ready for a trip to England.
One of the things that I thought about was what would qualify as Bucket List items during the last year.
I flew more than 100,000 miles last year, but I mainly went to places I had been to before.
However, I thought of a few things that would qualify for Bucket List items.
Visit the birthplace of Jane Austen.
In January I was in England and visited Steventon which was the birthplace of Jane Austen. The house she was born in is no longer standing, but it was the rectory for this little church in Steventon. See my post: Jane Austen Country
Visit Pembroke College at Cambridge University.
In January I also visited Cambridge and was able to visit the college where my 10th Great Grandfather Roger Williams attended. See: A Visit to Pembroke College
Visit Christ’s College at Cambridge University.
I also visited Christ’s College where Roger Williams’ father-in-law Richard Barnard went to school. The chapel above is where he would have worshiped while attending school.

Hike the complete Red Trail around Jena, Germany.
I started this quest more than 15 years ago when I traveled to Germany more often. In October I finished the last section of this 100km trail that winds through the German hills around Jena. See: Half Marathon Hike
Visit Wittenberg, Germany and see the famous doors where Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses. See: Castle Church Doors
I visited Wittenberg on October 22nd which was the opening day for the Luther 1517 Panorama. Wittenberg is gearing up for the 500th anniversary of Luther’s posting.
Inside the Castle Church I also saw where Martin Luther is buried. See: Martin Luther’s Grave
Fly one million miles with a single airline.
Another bucket list item was to finally earn my Million Miler status on United Airlines. This took place during a trip to Milan, Italy in April.

It will be interesting to see where all I fly in 2017. I already have trips to England and Israel planned and there are more in the early stages of planning.
Will I check of some Bucket List items in 2017? Maybe 🙂
Happy New Year to all my readers.
