With Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching Hostess has come out with some new limited edition CupCakes.  They have been out for some time, but with my travel schedule I didn’t see them in the store until last weekend.

The first one that I saw was Dark Chocolate Raspberry CupCakes. Of course a box of them ended up in my cart. I later saw another one and that made it in the cart as well. You will see what it is soon 🙂

Last year they had Red Velvet CupCakes and they have since become a regular flavor.

Early this week I tried the cupcakes. When I opened the box you could see that the cakes were nice and dark. You could also detect a nice scent of dark chocolate.

You can see the nice dark chocolate frosting as well as the squiggle in this picture. The squiggle seems a bit less pink than what is shown on the box.

A little out of focus in the middle, but you can see the nice rich cake and the dark chocolate frosting in this picture. The smell was really nice and I was ready to take a bite.

Here is the center of the CupCake. You can see the raspberry creme filling. Luckily the raspberry taste was not too strong as it is not my favorite flavor. Instead it was nicely balanced with the richness of the dark chocolate.

The CupCake was a bit messy to eat as the chocolate melted on my fingers as I held it. But it tasted good when I licked my fingers.

Hostess is making more and more holiday themed CupCakes. They had Pumpkin Spice CupCakes for Thanksgiving and Scary Cakes for Halloween. Perhaps this year they will have one for St. Patrick’s Day. Of course the Hostess Baseballs will probably appear again in March or April so we can look forward to them after Valentine’s Day is over.
