After many hours of travel I made it to Basingstoke.
Basingstoke is about 50 miles southwest of Heathrow in Hampshire.
After a 10 hour flight and working my way through immigration and customs I made it to the exit of The Queen’s Terminal at Heathrow.
I then went in search of the cab stand. After following several signs and going up and down an elevator I finally found it.
Here are two iconic black cabs waiting in the queue for passengers.
I was soon in a cab and headed toward Basingstoke. Here you can see Clifford the Big Red Suitcase and my laptop bag. I really like the setup of the London taxi cabs as your luggage goes right inside with you.
I am staying at the Audleys Wood hotel. The hotel is in an old mansion that was built in the 1880’s. I am in the wing that was added on in the 1980’s when it became a hotel. The hotel has a lot of history and I will share some of it in the future.
When I arrived it was almost dark as it has been a cloudy and rainy day. I will try and get a better picture later this week.
Here is a view from the backside of the hotel showing the large windowed alcoves of the restaurant.
It is definitely a beautiful place to stay.
Now off to sleep, but not too early. I need to get on schedule.
Steven
Sounds like a great retreat after a long flight. Enjoy the relaxation 🙂
Your journey reminds me of “miles to go before I sleep”.
