I am not taking a Birthday Cruise, but a birthday cruise caused my thoughts to wander where they did tonight.
Actually, the cruise that I am writing about in this post did take place just a few weeks after my sister’s birthday, and it is her upcoming birthday cruise that caused my mind to wander this way.
Five years ago my sister helped me celebrate a big accomplishment by going on a cruise to Antarctica with me. Here you can see the route of our cruise through the Antarctica Peninsula marked out on a map.
The cruise was to celebrate the completion of my masters in Adult Education.
This was the first cruise for both my sister and myself.
The pictures from this cruise were Not Your Usual Cruise Pictures.
My sister has taken several other cruises since that time and is embarking on another one in just a couple days to celebrate a big birthday.
In the picture above we are at Cape Horn or Cabo de Hornos which is the southernmost point of South America.
After we left Antarctica we traveled up through the Beagle Channel to Ushuaia, Argentina.
Two pictures from the Beagle Channel caught my eye tonight and I had to share them to end this post.
Here are two sea lions on the Isla de los lobos or Sea Lions Island. Their fur is all dried out after laying out on the rocks soaking up the sun.
Here is another sea lion that had just come up out of the water. You can see the slick wet fur and the uniform color.
My sister will not be as far south on this cruise as they will be along the coast of Mexico. It should be much warmer as well 🙂
Have fun and enjoy your big birthday!
Steven
Cool Steve! I would LOVE to look at your Cape Horn pics! BTW, I just began my master’s this month!
Thanks for sharing with us …
