Yard Work

Today I really needed to mow my yard, but got home too late from my errands. I need to get started on my Saturday routine earlier if I want to get home before dark 🙂

Manipal County, Bangalore India, Resort, Tropical ResortI use an electric mower to mow my lawn and that made me think of an electric mower that I saw during a trip to India seven years ago.

I was staying at the Manipal County Resort in Bangalore. The grounds were very nice with several large areas of grass. Here is the lawn outside of the room that I was staying in. On some mornings I would go out and sit on the bench that you see in the middle of the picture. It was close to the WiFi antennae, so I had a much better signal for my laptop.

Electric Lawn Mower, India, Mowing the YardNow for the cool picture of the electric lawn mower. I am not sure if this is a commercial product or just something that someone made. It does have a very simple design. I definitely would not want this for my lawn though. It doesn’t look like it would be very maneuverable, and probably doesn’t get too close to the edge of the house or fence.

Manipal County, Bangalore, India, Electric Lawn Mower, Yard WorkHere is the lawn mower in action. It looks like it is a bit difficult to push, even on a flat lawn. You can see that a lot of grass is being cut. Just look at the large pile of grass clippings that is being swept up.

The yard work was continuous while I was there. The ground crews were always busy, including sweeping the sidewalks several times a day. No chance for leaves to accumulate.

I am hoping that my grass doesn’t get too long in the next week. Saturday is the only day that I have daylight after I get home.

I may have fun pushing my mower through tall grass next weekend.

  1. Whoever designed and made it obviously forgot to provide a collection box!
