Little Arlington

Tonight I want to share some pictures that I took this weekend while visiting the Tracy Public Cemetery. I had planned to use some of the pictures that I took in a Veterans Day post. Instead my mind wandered in a different direction for my Veterans Day III post last night.

Tracy California, Cemetery, Veterans Day, Little ArlingtonMy plans were to post pictures of tombstones that represented veterans from different wars in our countries history. I took pictures of the graves of veterans who served in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I even had a picture of a monument to the Unknown Veteran. These pictures will all be saved for a future post.

Instead I decided to focus on a few of my family members who were Veterans. You can read my post by clicking on: Veterans Day III

Little Arlington, Tracy California, Cemetery, Veterans Day, VeteransTonight I will share pictures of the Little Arlington section of the cemetery.

Little Arlington

Dedicated and Reserved for those Men and Women who Served with Honor in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

Little Arlington, Veterans, Tracy CaliforniaThe sun was already low in the sky and the tombstones were throwing long shadows.

Since Veterans Day was only a few days away there were flowers and flags throughout the entire Little Arlington section.Veterans Day, Little Arlington, Tracy California, Geometric Patterns

I walked to the other end of Little Arlington so that I could take pictures with the sun lighting up the stones. The sight was so beautiful with the geometric patterns made from the evenly spaced stones.

I thought of all the Veterans who were buried here and their service to our Country.

Tracy California, Little Arlington, Veterans, Veterans DayI really like this picture as it really illustrates the precise placement of the stones.

You may notice that there are some gaps in the lines of stones. This is where a spouse of a Veteran is buried, but the Veteran is still living. The flat stone for a spouse is placed in front of the standing stone for the Veteran.

We need to make sure that we remember all of our Veterans. The ones who are still living, the ones who are still serving, and those who have passed on.
