Dinner and a Sunset in Miami

Tonight I will write the post I had planned for last night. For some reason on my laptop it was Internet MIA at the hotel I was staying at. I had to write my post on my i-Phone which did not have the pictures I wanted to share.

Yesterday was the middle day of my whirlwind trip to Miami, Monday and today were both Travel Days. I am back home now but worn out as I have been up since Midnight my time.

After finishing our work at the customer, the local service engineer took me to dinner at a famous Miami restaurant.

Versailles Cuban Cuisine, Versailles, Miami, Little Havana, Cuban FoodHe told me that you haven’t been to the real Miami until you have eaten at Versailles. It is know as The World’s Most Famous Cuban Restaurant.

The restaurant does have great significance in the Cuban community of Miami. The restaurant is located on Calle Ocho in the heart of the Little Havana neighborhood and is a gathering place for the leaders of the community.

I already had a Cuban Sandwich for lunch, so this was my second chance of the day for Cuban cuisine.

Chicken Soup, Versailles, Miami, Little Havana, Cuban Food, Sopa PolloI started off with a nice bowl of delicious Sopa Pollo or Chicken soup. The soup had  a wonderful flavor with nice pieces of shredded chicken and thin noodles.

Palomilla a la Plancha, Cuban Cuisine, Versailles, Plantains, Beans and RiceNext up was my main course. I decided to try the Bistec de Palomilla a la Plancha. The Palomilla is the Cuban version of a Minute Steak. The beef was very flavorful and was really nice topped with the grilled onions. On the right you can see some Plátanos maduros, which are fried plantains. These were also very delicious.

Rounding out the plate was a nice helping of rice and beans. An essential part of a Cuban meal.

Cortadito, Espresso with Milk, Condensed Milk, Cuban Coffee, Miami CoffeeThe meal ended with a nice Cortadito. This is an espresso that is cut with condensed milk. It has a nice sweet taste along with the bitterness of the espresso. The Cortadito comes from Cuba, but has become an essential drink in Miami culture.

After the wonderful meal it was time to head back to the hotel to get some sleep before an early morning flight.

Miami Sunset, Sunset with Clouds, Florida sunset, Miami, FloridaWhile trying to get a blog post together, I was able to experience a beautiful sunset from my hotel room. The threatening clouds in the sky were an interesting contrast to the red of the setting sun.

Today was an interesting travel day. I got bumped from my original flight, which was oversold and was put on a direct flight that got me home earlier. However, I had to spend more time at the airport in Miami and if I would have known earlier I could have got more sleep.

Now it is time to get some sleep and try to be back on schedule for a busy day tomorrow.
