Tonight I am going to share some of my favorite bridge pictures. I have shared most of them here before, but I will start with one that I haven’t shared here on my blog. Some of my followers have seen this picture years ago on Facebook as a Picture of the Day.
This picture was taken eight years ago when I visited the Wörlitzer Park near Dessau, Germany. The park is laid out as an English garden and was created in the early 1770’s.
This picture was taken from a rowboat that we were riding in while taking a tour of the waterways in the park. The day was overcast and there were occasional showers. There were swans swimming in the water and also several narrow waterways that were spanned by bridges.
This was one of my favorite pictures from the day. The umbrella really pops and adds color to the overcast and dreary day.
Here is another bridge in Germany. This bridge is in Jena-Burgau and is known as the Burgauer Brücke. You can click on the link to learn more about the history of the bridge.
I really like seeing the bridge through the fog, and also the old wagon in the foreground.
Now for a more modern bridge. This is the El Puente de la Barra in Maldonado, Uruguay.
You can read more about this stressed ribbon bridge in my post: Crazy Bridge
I was going to share a couple pictures of bridges in California, and then remembered this one. Now the post will begin and end with pictures of someone walking across a bridge with an umbrella.
This picture was taken at West Lake in Hangzhou, China. West Lake has an interesting history and is also a popular tourist destination in China. You can read more about West Lake and see more pictures that I took by clicking on: West Lake
I also just realized that the first and last pictures have something else in common. They were both taken at UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Which bridge picture is your favorite?
Steven
The German bridge is my favourite.
Andrew, which German bridge? The first or the second?
The second one!
