This morning I took pictures of my first roses of the year.
This first picture was taken on Thursday which was the Vernal Equinox or the first day of spring.
Here a rose is slowly opening, but is not yet open all the way. I love the rich color of the early roses on this bush. Later in the year they are usually a lighter color, but in spring they seem darker.
Today the rose bud has opened up and it was nicely illuminated by the sun. You can also see a few other buds that will be opening in the next few days. I always enjoy seeing my roses when I walk out in the morning to pick up my newspaper.
My St. Patrick rose bush will be the next to have open blooms. Several buds are slowing starting to open. I like the green tinge to the petals as they are in the bud stage.
The St. Patrick will often have a little bit of red or orange on the edges of the petals. I always enjoy watching them slowly open into beautiful blooms.
You can see pictures of St. Patrick blooms in my post: November Roses
OK, one more rose picture. I thought that this one was really beautiful. Tomorrow it will be fully open, but sometimes I really like the ones that are transitioning from a bud to a bloom.
I hope that you enjoyed this little look at the beginning of spring.
Steven

So lovely!!! Thanks for sharing …
Wow, I’m amazed that you have roses. I’m still waiting for my first crocus.
