Tonight I will share a few pictures looking out over the Jamison Valley in the Blue Mountains National Park.
The sign shown here is near the valley rim in Katoomba, which is the primary town in the Blue Mountains.
Here is a view of the Jamison Valley from Katoomba. You can see the fog drifting through the valley.
I found out that the Jamison Valley is named for Sir John Jamison who served under Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. He later became a ship’s surgeon and helped cure an outbreak of scurvy for which he was knighted.
Jamison inherited property in Australia when his father died. He came to Australia and lived a very interesting life. Perhaps I will share more of his life in a future post, but for now on to the scenery, I am wandering too far away from the subject.
In this picture we have a view of Mount Solitary. The mountain definitely stands out from the surroundings in the middle of Jamison Valley. The mountain is a common destination for bush walkers.
In this picture I am looking out over the top of the Three Sisters. In this shot you can only see the tallest of the Three Sisters which is known as Meehni.
From far away the Three Sisters look barren. However, when you get closer you can see that they are covered with foliage.
When I first walked up to this overlook you could not see Meehni as it was covered with fog. However, the fog soon cleared enough so that I could get this picture. You can still see some of the remnants of the fog around the rock.
In the background you have another great view of Jamison Valley and Mount Solitary.
I have some great pictures of the Three Sisters, but want to do more research before writing an individual post about them.
What should I share next from the Blue Mountains? Birds, Flowers or Trees?
Steven

Looks very Avatar like doesn’t it? It’s amazing that trees can just grow why up on the side of a cliff like that too
