On Saturday I spent some time around Sydney Harbour on the way to and from the Taronga Zoo.
The area around Circle Quay is quite nice. You see a lot of ferries coming and going and also have a great view of the Sydney Opera House.
As we were passing near the Harbour Bridge on the way to the zoo, I took a picture of the people who were climbing the bridge.
This is one thing that is not on my bucket list. I don’t think I would do well being high above the water on top of a bridge. Even if I did have a tether on.
On the way across to the zoo we stopped at Fort Denison to drop off some of the passengers.
Fort Denison was used for the defense of Sydney Harbour and was also a jail at one time.
Someday I need to stop here and explore the museum. The island is very small and the fort covers almost all the available land.
When we left the zoo in late afternoon there were a lot of boats in the harbour. Here we see a lot of small modern boats.
I really like this picture. An old tall ship sails alongside a modern catamaran. In the background is the HMAS Kuttabul naval base. You can see some of the ships of the Royal Australian Navy.
This Saturday I plan on taking a trip to the Blue Mountains. I hope that it is not too rainy. The forecast is for a high of only 20 degrees with an 80 percent chance of rain.
I hope you enjoyed my little tour of the harbour.
Steven

We miss you at church, but it looks like you are having a lovely time while you’re there. I have a question. I came across the word quay for the first time yesterday. Is it pronounced “kay” or “kway”?
Becky, quay is pronounced just like key.
So gorgeous there! Just love being on the water. Hey, did you see the Oprah episode where her, Gayle and all the audience members she took there climbed to the top for a photo op? The helicopter that was to take the photo ran short of fuel (because it took them so long to get to the top) and had to leave and get more. So Oprah was left to, dun dun duuuuun “WAIT”…if you can imagine, she was NOT happy 😀
Very enjoyable post. Loved the pictures.
