When I am out walking it sometimes takes me longer to get places. I like to stop and take pictures. Especially when I see some interesting flowers, trees or animals.
Most of the pictures in this post come from a walk I took on Wednesday night. You can see a few more from that walk in my post: Laughing Kookaburra
Here we have a Noisy Miner (Manorina melanocephala) poking around in the underbrush.
The Noisy Miner is a member of the honeyeater family. The honeyeaters are mainly found south and east of the Wallace Line in Australia and New Guinea. The Noisy Miner is only found in eastern Australia and Tasmania.
I am not sure what type of flowers these are, but they are very pretty. They look a bit like the flowers of the Ceibo tree that is native to South America.
Here is a pretty little blossom that is growing on a vine. I like that I was able to capture one that was open along with one that is closed in the background. I really like the colors of the blossom.
This picture may be a little hard to see. You will need to look closely to see the long curving branch on this tree. I found this tree very fascinating and wonder how it grew the way that it is. Perhaps it grew this way when the woods were more dense in this area.
Not sure what type of spider this is, but it is a big one. It might be a St. Andrews Cross or Argiope Spider. If you look closely you can see the big web that it has spun. The web is more than five feet in diameter.
This spider is close to the office where I am working here in Australia. I pass by this spider every morning on the walk to work.
I hope you enjoyed this little look at my surroundings this week.
Tomorrow I plan on going to the Taronga Zoo.
