Tonight I am sharing a few pictures of a barn in winter. Don’t expect snow though as this is in the Central Valley of California.
I am not sure what type of tree this is, but it has interesting little berries or seed pods on it.
It looks like a type of Rowan or Sorbus tree, but I am not sure.
If you know what type of tree this is, please comment below.
In any case, it looks beautiful with the barn behind it.
The winter sun lights up the little berries and they really pop against the dark background of the barn.
Here is the barn at dusk. In the picture it looks like I am facing West toward the sunset. However, what you see is what I like to call a backset. It is the sun reflecting back off of the clouds instead of shining through them.
I really like the coloring in this picture and the silhouetting of the barn and tree against the sky.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it the low roof on this barn and the wooden items underneath it. Do you know that they are?
Steve, I have looked at this barn a thousand times and yet looking at it through your lens is like seeing it for the first time. I love that you notice the details like the berries. Sheryl, this was once a dairy farm,so I would assume the wooden rails have something to do with cattle, perhaps for feeding. There are troughs inside the barn.
Brings back a lot of childhood memories. Our barn was very similar to this one. The outside with the posts was where we fed hay.
That is a very interesting pod on the tree. I wish we had NO snow in the winter. Very picturesque there!
