Duck Art

Tonight I was looking through my Grandma’s Scrapbooks and came across a couple of really cool clippings.

Maynard Reece - Wildlife Art - Duck Art - Duck Stamp Artist - Mallards - ScrapbookThe clippings are from the early 60’s and are artwork by wildlife artist Maynard Reece.

Maynard Reece is well known for the detail in his wildlife art. In the picture above, I can imagine myself standing on the opposite bank of this pond and seeing the ducks coming in for a landing.

Maynard Reece - Wildlife Art - Ducks taking off - Duck Stamp Artist - Iowa ArtistIn this second picture we have ducks taking off from the surface of a pond.

I really like the details in this picture, especially the way the water is falling back from the duck that is just leaving the water.

Maynard Reece is from Iowa and is known for his Federal Duck Stamp designs. Reece has won the Federal Duck Stamp contest a record five times.

Reece has also designed wildlife stamps for Iowa and a few other states.

I hope you enjoyed this look at the beautiful wildlife of Iowa.

The pictures are great. This post brings back vague memories of reading magazine articles about the person selected to do the duck stamp for an upcoming year when I was a child.
