Tonight I am sticking with the theme from last night.
I have had a long day and had been looking through pictures trying to find an interesting theme to post about. In the process I happened upon a few pictures from the nearest Bass Pro Shops here in California.
I will start with a picture of the front of the store, just as I did in my post yesterday: Canadian Bass Pro Shops
The Bass Pro Shops in Manteca has a classic truck sitting outside the front of the store, but I didn’t take a picture of it during this trip.
I really like the interior of this Bass Pro Shops. There is a large replica of a giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) trunk in the entryway. You enter through the trunk into the store. The opening in the trunk is as large as that of the tunnel trees that were created as tourist attractions for stage coaches to drive through.
For pictures of real giant sequoias you can visit my post: Tuolumne Grove
Like other Bass Pro Shops they have a lot of animals displayed in the store including some that are native to California.
This picture of a bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensisis) one of my favorites. We have several subspecies of bighorn sheep in California, including the endangered Sierra Nevada bighorn sheep. I am not sure which subspecies this one is.
One last picture. Here is one of the lights that line the front walkway. I really like this silhouette of a bear walking across a fallen tree.
I am now thinking of what I need at Bass Pro Shops. It might be time for another visit.
Steven

The first one of these stores I encountered was in Oklahoma City. It was several years before I saw one in California.
