Fall Color in Toronto

Today was a dreary rainy day, but that didn’t stop me from taking a few pictures of the beautiful color that is starting to appear in Toronto.

While walking home from the office I had to stop and get a picture of this beautiful leaf laying on the sidewalk. I walked home in light rain but couldn’t resist getting my camera out even if the lens got wet and affected the focus.

The street that I walked down to get back to the hotel had a lot of nice trees with red leaves. They had beautiful color that is not shown very well here. The walk home brought back memories of fall in the Midwest where it is very common to have cold rainy days.

Back home now in California we get the color without the rain and cold. Nice, but not quite the same when it comes to bringing back memories.

Driveway of Westin Prince Toronto - Red Trees - Fall Color - Toronto Color

There are several nice trees in the median of the driveway leading to the hotel I am staying in. As I walked up the driveway the lights were coming on as daylight faded. I was able to capture this picture of the trees. The red of the trees pop against the background.

I really like the flower clock outside my hotel. The flowers change throughout the year and it now has some nice fall colors. The reds and whites have a nice contrast. I will try for a better picture later this week. Perhaps there will be a sunny day.

Greek Food - Chicken Gyro - Toronto - York Mills Road

It seems that I just have to mention food in my blog posts on this trip. Today for lunch we had Greek food. Here is a picture of my nice Chicken Gyro.

With all the nice red and yellow fall colors I had my taste buds set on a nice hamburger from Lick’s.

Lick's Homeburger - Closed - Going out of business? - Lick's Homeburgers - Burger and Fries

When I was here last year I had several nice Homeburgers at Lick’s. We drove by Lick’s several times today going to and from the office and I didn’t want to walk far in the rain. To my dismay I found that it had gone out of business. A little research found that Lick’s is having a lot of trouble and about half of their locations have been closed.

I settled for a Spicy Chicken sandwich at Wendy’s instead. It was the next closest option. I also didn’t want to walk another block in the rain to get an overpriced burger at Five Guys.

Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow and I can get some better pictures of the fall color.

The red maple leaves are beautiful. The leaves on the maple trees in our yard turn yellow each fall–and though they are lovely, I always wish that we had trees with red leaves.

Looks so pretty there and I’m very surprised that clock is still blooming along. Milder in TO than here although my planters are still looking great. This has been a mild fall for Canadians 😀

Those red maple leaves reminded me of a trip to Ottawa a number of years back. It was the first time I had seen red maple leaves on trees. It was beautiful.

I´ve seen it milion times already but every year when the fall comes and trees turn to those unbelievably beautiful and colorful creatures, I´m stunned. And your pictures are proof of that.
