This morning as we were getting ready to leave for church services there was a bird in one of the trees in the yard.
The bird was playing peekaboo and I was not able to get a clear shot.
Can you tell what species it is from the first two pictures?
In this first picture you see just a lot of white with just a little bit of black on the underside of the tail.
In this picture you can see that the bird has black on the head and also that black bars on the underside of the tail. We need the bird to stop playing peekaboo.
Now we can see more of the head and can tell that it is a Red-bellied Woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus).
We did get a better look at the woodpecker, but I was not able to capture a better picture. I had my picture on maximum zoom and was shooting from inside where it was nice and warm. It is definitely starting to get cold here in Canada.
One last image from today. We had a great lunch of Butter Chicken and naan bread.
I gave the lunch a nice Thums Up!!
Have you ever had a bottle of Thums Up? You will not forget the taste.
Steven

Yes wildlife can do that to you.
How does Thums Up taste differently from our coke and why don’t we have them in the US?
Glenda, it has a stronger taste. Even more so than the Coke in Mexico. I have heard that it is available at some Indian grocery stores in California. Probably the main reason we don’t see it in the US is that it would not appeal as well to the American taste.
