Many years ago during one of my first trips to India I bought my dad a chess set.
While at home for the Golden Anniversary celebration, I decided to take a few pictures of it.
Above you see the chess board, and if you look closely you can see that it is inlaid on top of a box.
When you open the box you see the pieces. They are of a nice size that makes playing enjoyable, but still portable. I also like the look of the pieces. They definitely have an Indian look to them.
Here is the board all set up and ready to play. My Dad asked me if I wanted to play, but I decided that it was more important to get my blog post written and to pack for my trip home 🙂 Plus, I haven’t played chess in years.
Here we have the artistic shot taken from behind the pieces.
My Dad has enjoyed this chess set. It is easy to pack up and take somewhere or just play at home.
I remember the chess set he used while I was growing up. They were big ceramic pieces and were in a large box that was not easy to tote around.
Writing this post, I also thought about another post that I have written about chess. Click on Chess in the Park to see how they play chess in Korea.

Dad would have won that match . . . No doubt!
The chess set is beautiful! And, it’s especially nice that it is easy to pack up and is portable.
Great blog! Just make sure you that game in, someday. I’m not worried, though. Looks like your not one of those bloggers who puts life on hold to blog. You live an interesting enough life that your posts are interesting, too.
My husband has several chess sets. A beautiful ceramic set, a wooden one from Germany, and several others. He taught me, our 3 kids, and all the grandkids how to play. Even has the patience to play with them 🙂 Love the chess set from India!
